It’s no secret that we love tempeh, really love it. We can easily eat it several days (or weeks or months…) in a row with gusto but that’s not to say we don’t enjoy tucking into other plant-based dishes, too. So, we’ve created a list of some amazing veggie eateries in London to celebrate the delicious plant-based food that is made in this city. Please note that this list is by no means exhaustive, we’re just scratching the surface. (When it comes to vegan food, people living in London sure are spoilt for choice!)
When in doubt, go to Mildreds. If you and your friends can’t decide on a place, Mildreds is always a great choice! Mildreds has been around since the late 80’s and its delicious, hearty food is guaranteed to please your taste buds no matter whether you’re a vegan or an omnivore. Trust us, we’ve taken many people who are not vegetarians or vegans to Mildreds and dishes have been demolished and no complaints have been heard. This buzzing restaurant proves that plant-based eating doesn’t mean you’ll be just eating light salads. One of our favorites is the creamy Sri Lankan curry! Mildreds has four locations in London (Soho, Camden, Kings Cross and Dalston), go find your favourite.
Something special for someone special? Take him/her to Farmacy. This beautiful restaurant in Notting Hill is the perfect choice when you’re in the mood for something special.
Make no mistake, Farmacy is much more than just a beautiful place: The menu is filled with delicious dishes created from carefully picked ingredients. As they state on their website “Everything on the menu is plant-based and free from dairy, refined sugars, additives and chemicals. All of our ingredients are either grown on the farm, or sourced from local, sustainable and environmentally conscious suppliers.” We like the sound of that! Also, we couldn’t agree more with this “From the soil to the sun, everything above, below, and between us is connected.”
When you crave for pizza, go to Purezza. Sometimes you just need pizza in your life, right? Fortunately, gone are the days when vegans could only dream of a good pizza. Purezza’s sourdough pizzas aren’t just good, they’re amazing! Also, the options are far from boring, just check out this combo “Yellow tomato base with mozzarella, green chillies, roasted aubergines, baby sweetcorn & red peppers, erupting with spicy sririacha sauce and chilli flakes”. If you’re in the mood for pizza, we definitely recommend heading to Purezza - you won’t leave the restaurant hungry or disappointed. This gem can be found in Camden in London, and in Brighton.
Want to be transported into a culinary heaven with less than £10? You need to try the rotis by Rainforest Creations, they are something else! Rainforest Creations is not a restaurant but a food stall that you can find in different food markets. They serve their incredibly delicious and colourful rotis, which are filled to the brim, at least in Hammersmith on Thursdays, in Chelsea on Saturdays and in Herne Hill on Sundays. Seriously, gather all your pals and go get yourselves some amazing, wholesome vegan grub from Rainforest Creations! (We recommend especially the Rainforest Roti.)
Oh, there are also so many other great places serving delicious veggie food out there! However, we already got too hungry writing about these four places so we shall stop here. We’ll continue the list another time. Now, let’s eat!
